Prof. Dr. Dogan Atilgan was born in Nevsehir in 1960, and completed his secondary education at Nevsehir High School in 1977. He finished his undergraduate program in 1981 in the Library Science Department of the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography. Between 1978-1985 he worked at the National Library, after which he became a research associate of the the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography. There he finished his Ph.D. program in 1992, became an associate professor in 2002, and professor in 2008. He has been assistant chair of the Library Science Department (1996-1997), Librarian of the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography (1997-2001), Ministry of Education Education Research and Development Agency
